Why do you need a Clean Registry?

It starts out by explaining that a registry functions like a computer’s catalog and that everyone needs to make sure they have a clean registry or performance will suffer greatly.
The great example they give of how a registry works simply goes like this….
1. Click on your program, ex: Word
2. Operating system queries the registry to see where Word is.
3. The registry shares the info on program and file locations, preferences, profiles and whatever info is needed to open that file
Without a clean registry this information becomes harder and harder for the computer to access efficiently. As clutter grows, so does the length of time it takes to perform all tasks. Not Good!
